Baby Shower -- DC

Here are a few pictures from the baby shower held for us at our place. Here is our good friend Carmen Gonzalez who did the arranging, inviting, cooking, etc....

Some of our favorite flowers. We're big fans of daisies around here.

Yeah, fluorescent cupcakes.

Baby Shower - Conn.

Here are some pictures from a baby shower thrown for us in Farmington. Many thanks to everyone (especially Bob and Claire for hosting) for the wonderful gifts.

Please notice the swaddled soup spoons and gift bags.

This is one of the lovely centerpieces that Claire made (yes, that is a small white pumpkin holding those flowers).

Angie and I enjoying opening gifts.

The remains of the game where you have eat baby food and guess what it is. Angie and I mostly smelled the bottles rather than eat the food. :)

As requested, some pictures of pregnant Angie. Here she is with Dana at the last Chris and Dana Sunday night barbecue of the summer.

Angie and Stephanie (who was in town for a short visit).

Angie and our friend Cliff Hon at the zoo last weekend.

Here is our new car, a 2004 Honda CRV. Big enough for all of us, plus some downstairs closet space.

Dana's Birthday Party

The theme for Dana's 40th birthday party was "Christmas in July." Here she is with a really giving Santa (It was about 94 degrees out).

What Christmas party is complete without animatronic reindeer?

Here we are with our friends Richard and Lauren. I guess the earlier drink was a second-to-last drink.

For anyone who knows our friend Brad (here with Chris and Dana's dog Yogi), no explanation of this picture is necessary.

A last drink...

Our friends Richard Kay and Lauren Dutko recently moved to Savannah, Ga. Many members of the old gang got together recently to wish them well and have a last drink.

It was awfully hot on Saturday. Jake provides a visual demonstration...

Also on Saturday we went to the graduation ceremony for my friend Richard Kay. He's the one facing the camera.

More Eastern Market photos

These photos do a better job of showing the damage from the fire. Efforts to rebuild are moving quickly. A fundraiser at a local restaurant raised $55,000 in one night!

Last weekend was the annual Market Day, which is a street fair that accompanies the usual market activities. Here is a picture of the line to get in to see the damage to the market. They should have charged a fee!

Fire at Eastern Market

Around 1 a.m. we woke up to smell of something burning. From the turret room, we could see smoke coming from a few blocks away. Although our house was safe, it made for a restless night. Then, this morning, we heard what had burned....

Walking by this morning, I could see that the roof of the building was mostly gone, but the front facade looked OK. The mayor has already said it will be restored, but it could take a while.

For those who don't know, the market really is the center of our neighborhood. Aside from the fresh food it actually sells, it is the draw that has helped develop many local businesses. Here is some more information about the market: http://www.easternmarketdc.com/history.php

Tulips

Here are some pictures of our spring tulips. We worried about them this year because we had such odd weather, but they bloomed nicely.

San Diego Trip

These are pictures from our recent trip to San Diego to visit Angie's sister, Stephanie. I have more pictures, but no time to post themnow.

Here is her new apartment/house in the South Park (no, really) area of San Diego.

This is Steph's living room as seen from her breakfast nook.

Stephanie and I receiving a surfing lesson before we hit the water.

Here I am getting ready to surf! I had a lot of fun, and I even managed to stand on the board a few times! Stephanie did great too, but we both decided we need to do a lot more yoga before trying that again!

Welcome!

Hi everyone and welcome to our blog! This will mostly contain family stuff, and it's an easier way to share our adventures. Hope everyone enjoys! This is Angie and I sailing on vacation in Cape Cod in 2005.
